The beneficiary and willing recipient of his own active, and spontaneous, PR campaign, Ditch Salvage is the President's military advisor and all-around hero to call upon when the going gets tough. He fought the "frankies", he may have dealt with alien invaders before, and he's fought a tough blood-and-guts battle against all of America's enemies on land, sea, air, and space... and some of his battles MAY ACTUALLY HAVE HAPPENED!

That's not to say that Ditch is an all-out liar; indeed, he has the potential to be very much the hero he has painted himself out to be... once he overcomes his own titanic ego and habit of claiming far more credit than he actually deserves. It wouldn't hurt to give Vera, the unquestionable brains of the operation, a little credit as well. However, he is first and foremost an addict of the spotlight and will seize it at every moment he can.
